Feature Request: Real-Time Multi-Device Session Continuity for ChatGPT & Codex
I use ChatGPT and Codex professionally across multiple devices throughout the day.
My typical workflow is:
A dedicated server/work computer keeps ChatGPT/Codex open continuously.
I continue the same work from my office computer when needed.
I also switch to my iPhone while away from my desk.
Since ChatGPT and Codex are now integrated into the same application, I expected conversations, projects, and active Codex sessions to stay synchronized across all devices.
Currently, this does not work reliably. While Projects may synchronize, the active Codex session, pinned tasks, project state, and ongoing AI context often differ between devices. This makes it difficult to know which AI agent is currently working on the latest instructions.
This becomes a serious issue when working with GitHub repositories. Multiple Codex sessions can unknowingly work on the same project from different computers. GitHub synchronizes the code, but it does not synchronize the AI agent's reasoning, task state, or conversation context. As a result, different sessions may generate conflicting changes without the user realizing it.
Suggested Feature: Unified Live Session Continuity
Please add real-time session synchronization across all devices signed into the same account.
Desired capabilities include:
Continue the exact same ChatGPT or Codex session from any device.
Real-time synchronization of conversations, active tasks, and AI context.
Shared project state across desktop, web, and mobile.
Automatic updates when another device sends a new prompt.
Ability to "Take Over" an active session from another device without losing context.
Live indicator showing which device is currently controlling the session.
Read-only mode for monitoring an active session from another device.
Conflict warnings when multiple Codex sessions are working on the same GitHub repository or project.
A "Resume Current Session" button on mobile to instantly continue the active desktop session.
This functionality already exists in several other AI development platforms and would make ChatGPT/Codex significantly more powerful for professional users who work across multiple devices.
For developers, researchers, engineers, and enterprise users, this would be one of the most valuable productivity improvements.
Thank you for considering this feature.
