What version of the Codex App are you using (From “About Codex” dialog)?

Version 26.715.31925 Released Jul 18, 2026

What subscription do you have?

Plus

What platform is your computer?

Darwin 25.5.0 arm64 arm

What issue are you seeing?

I have two official OpenAI macOS apps:

  • ChatGPT Classic
  • The new ChatGPT app

Both are signed into the same OpenAI account (same email address).

Behavior:

  • ChatGPT Classic and chatgpt.com share the same conversations.
  • The new ChatGPT app shows a completely different conversation history.
  • New conversations created in Classic never appear in the new app.
  • New conversations created in the new app never appear in Classic or on chatgpt.com.

I have verified multiple times that both apps are logged into the same account. I’ve also attached screenshots showing the different conversation lists.

Expected behavior:
All official ChatGPT clients should synchronize conversation history for the same account.

Chatgpt classic.app Version: Version 1.2026.183 (1783607847)

What steps can reproduce the bug?

Actually, I did nothing :-) I know :-)
Overnight I found my Codex icon turned to ? and codex.app missing from Applications.
Instead I found ChatGPT.app and ChatGpt Classic.app.

Chatgpt.app ac ts like old Codex.app and can see my old works from Codex.
Chatgpt classic.app acts like old Chatgpt and can see my old chats and projects

What is the expected behavior?

From what I read, the two should be the one new one and all should be synchronized.

Additional information

Additionally the https://chatgpt.com/ shows only classic content in the sidebar, yet it has a new interface with Chat and Work tabs.
