same issue in wsl under win11. i clone source code and use codex analyze it finally found
Additional reproduction: Codex CLI 0.149.0 on Linux under WSL
I reproduced the same issue with a newer Codex CLI and Spreadsheets runtime.
### Environment
0.149.0, installed through npmclicodex-tui26.812.11052, installed and enabled@oai/artifact-tool:2.8.43, present on diskworkspace_dependencies:stable, enabled by defaultload_workspace_dependenciesand nocodex_app.*dynamic toolsRestarting Codex and creating another TUI session did not restore the tool.
### Findings
This does not appear to be a missing dependency, plugin installation, sandbox, or filesystem issue:
@oai/artifact-toolare present and readable.workspace_dependencies=true.I also inspected the current
openai/codexsource at commit:c9b19deb09c1841ce7acc33ddb96276030936a29Feature::WorkspaceDependenciesis declared as stable and enabled by default, but its only Rust references are theenum/spec declarations. I could not find a CLI implementation or tool handler for
load_workspace_dependencies.The app-server documentation shows that dynamic tools must be supplied by the client through
thread/. This matches reports such as #24280, where locally created Codex Desktop threads receive:start.dynamicTools
codex_app.load_workspace_dependenciescodex_app.automation_updatecodex_app.read_thread_terminalwhile threads created through another path receive a reduced dynamic-tool set.
### Suspected root cause
The Spreadsheets plugin is available to Codex CLI/TUI, but its required loader appears to be implemented as a Codex
Desktop client-provided dynamic tool.
The CLI/TUI thread creation path does not provide this dynamic tool, and the CLI has no native fallback
implementation. This creates a capability-contract mismatch:
load_workspace_dependencies.@oai/artifact-toolruntime cannot be accessed through the supported workflow.Enabling
artifact, changing sandbox permissions, or restarting the CLI should not fix this because the missing stepis tool registration at thread creation.
### Expected resolution
One of the following would resolve the mismatch:
load_workspace_dependenciesas a native CLI tool whenworkspace_dependencies=true.This appears to be a general Codex CLI/TUI integration issue rather than a WSL-specific runtime problem.
Confirming the same failure on a current Windows Codex CLI setup, and it also affects the bundled Presentations plugin.
Environment:
