[Codex App] Computer Use times out when accessing Apple Mail while Finder works

What issue are you seeing?

Computer Use can control Finder normally, but attempting to access Apple Mail never returns app state and eventually times out. The same Mail workflow worked a few days earlier. This prevents reading unread invoice/payment emails and safely updating the related Excel workbook.

Computer Use should return the Apple Mail window state and allow safe interaction with unread messages, as it did previously.

Additional information

Finder remains controllable, so the failure appears specific to the Codex Computer Use ↔ Apple Mail integration. No email state or Excel data was modified during the failed attempts.

I can reproduce this on a newer Codex build.
Environment
Codex App: 26.721.41059
macOS: 26.5.2
Architecture: Apple silicon (arm64)
A direct get_app_state request targeting com.apple.mail remained hung for more than 60 seconds and never returned. No email content was exposed or modified during the test.
The Computer Use plugin is installed correctly, its capture worker starts successfully, and the Codex logs show no corresponding TCC or macOS permission denial. This therefore appears to be the same Apple Mail–specific regression rather than a missing plugin or permission issue.
This confirms the problem is still present after the reporter’s 26.715.52143 build.

Reproduced on August 5, 2026 on a newer build.

Environment:

Codex App: 26.727.51351 (6119)
Bundled Computer Use plugin: 1.0.1000550
macOS: 26.6 (25G72)
Platform: Darwin 25.6.0 arm64 arm

New details:

A compact Finder Share → Mail compose window was accessible enough to populate and verify a message with one local PDF attachment.
After clicking Send, both get_app_state({ app: "Mail", disableDiff: true }) and get_app_state({ app: "com.apple.mail", disableDiff: true }) repeatedly returned Computer Use server error -10005: timeoutReached.
list_apps() still reported com.apple.mail as running.
A later read-only attempt to inspect the full Mail viewer reproduced the same timeout.
This blocks iCloud Sent verification. It does not prove that the email failed to send; it means the post-Send verification/read path is unavailable.

No recipient, subject, body, attachment name, email address, or medical content is included here. I have not attached logs because the reproducing session involved private medical and communication data; I can provide a narrowly privacy-reviewed extract if a maintainer identifies the exact log lines needed.
