What version of the IDE extension are you using?

26.715.31925

What subscription do you have?

Unknown / not relevant to this localization issue.

Which IDE are you using?

VS Code 1.129.1

What platform is your computer?

Microsoft Windows NT 10.0.19045.0 x64; locale zh-CN

What issue are you seeing?

In the Codex IDE extension settings, under Model capabilities > Available reasoning efforts, two distinct reasoning levels are both localized as “极高”.

The six visible labels are:

  1. 轻度
  2. 极高
  3. 最高
  4. 极高

Based on their order and the separate Ultra setting shown directly below, these correspond to Light, Medium, High, Extra High, Max, and Ultra. Extra High and Ultra therefore collide on the same Chinese label, making the two options indistinguishable.

What steps can reproduce the bug?

  1. Set the VS Code display language to Simplified Chinese (zh-CN).
  2. Install or update the Codex IDE extension to 26.715.31925.
  3. Open the Codex extension settings.
  4. Go to Model capabilities > Available reasoning efforts.
  5. Expand the multi-select list.
  6. Observe that both the fourth and sixth entries are labeled “极高”.

What is the expected behavior?

Extra High and Ultra should have distinct Simplified Chinese labels, or Ultra should remain untranslated, so users can tell which reasoning level they are enabling. Max (“最高”) is already distinct.

Additional information

The same settings panel includes “Ultra in model picker slider”, which makes it clear that Ultra is a separate capability rather than another copy of Extra High. A screenshot showing the duplicated labels is available if needed.
