What version of the Codex App are you using (From “About Codex” dialog)?

26.715.72359

What subscription do you have?

Edu

What platform is your computer?

Windows 11 x64

What issue are you seeing?

The ChatGPT / Codex app, which is a Windows Store app, requires administrator elevation to continue to allow elevated sandbox. However, in an enterprise environment, users are typically not administrators and cannot complete this access. This is for Windows Store App 9PLM9XGG6VKS which has recently combined both applications. The version is:
OpenAI.Codex_26.715.10079.0_x64__2p2nqsd0c76g0

I have attempted to install as system, this does not change the install outcome.

I have also tried running the codex-windows-sandbox-setup.exe as administrator and SYSTEM (run from C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\OpenAI\Codex\bin\e2d6a5ee2cac801c>run from which runs the elevation and pops up the UAC during the original install, however this returns:

Error: helper_request_args_failed: expected payload argument

This is the way that I believed I could automate the elevation.

What steps can reproduce the bug?

The installer does not allow installing as SYSTEM or elevating the sandbox install from an MDM or enterprise deployment method. Running codex-windows-sandbox-setup.exe as system or administrator fails in an automated way with:

Error: helper_request_args_failed: expected payload argument

What is the expected behavior?

The expected behavior would be that the application would be allowed to be deployed from an MDM or in an automated fashion that the user can have the elevated sandbox without having administrator permissions.

Additional information

SCCM and Intune would be the ideal deployment method.
