Live Activity on iOS for Codex tasks running on macOS
I would like the ChatGPT iOS app to show a Live Activity whenever a Codex task is running in the macOS app.
The Live Activity could display:
- The current task or goal
- The current execution status
- A brief description of the latest activity
- Elapsed time
- Whether Codex is waiting for user input
- Whether the task completed successfully or failed
It would be useful to see this information from the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island without having to keep the Mac app open or repeatedly check the session.
When the task requires confirmation or additional input, the Live Activity could notify the user and provide a shortcut to open the corresponding Codex session in the iOS app.
This would make long-running Codex tasks easier to monitor while away from the Mac.

Yes, I really need that too. I use a terminal app on my iPhone that runs continuously as a Live Activity, but the ChatGPT/Codex app loses its connection every time I switch apps and has to reload everything constantly—it’s completely unusable.

There we should go, at least for remote sessions.
