What version of the Codex App are you using (From “About Codex” dialog)?

26.721.31836

What subscription do you have?

Plus

What platform is your computer?

Microsoft Windows NT 10.0.26200.0 x64

What issue are you seeing?

The Codex desktop app does not load the home page correctly on one of my Windows PCs.

The app recognizes that I am signed in, but the main page is blank or incomplete, my recent projects/tasks are missing, and account-related information such as usage limits is not displayed correctly.

The same ChatGPT account works normally on two other computers, so this appears to be specific to the local installation or cached application state on this PC.

What steps can reproduce the bug?

What is the expected behavior?

_No response_

Additional information

I have already tried:

Signing out and signing in again
Resetting the application through Windows Settings
Uninstalling and reinstalling the desktop app
Restarting Windows
Removing local Codex cache/application data
Reinstalling the latest version
Verifying that the same account works normally on other PCs

None of these steps resolved the issue.

I can reproduce the same issue.

  • Windows
  • ChatGPT Desktop 26.721.41059
  • ChatGPT Plus

Codex works correctly on the web:
https://chatgpt.com/codex/cloud

However, the Windows desktop app always shows:

"You don't have access to Codex yet. Contact your admin to request access."

I have already:

  • Reinstalled the app
  • Deleted all local ChatGPT data
  • Restarted Windows
  • Signed out and signed back in

Another account works correctly on the same PC.

Also, I’m not sure whether this is related to the issue, but I noticed that even after reinstalling the software, the application size is still unusually large at 1.81 GB.

I suspect the problem may be caused by some of the data included in this size. Perhaps this data was not properly removed, which is why reinstalling the software did not resolve the issue.

That caught my attention, too. Before I reinstalled it, it was 2.1 GB, but even after reinstalling, it’s still 1.89 GB, which is quite large.

I have the same issue on Windows.

ChatGPT Desktop version: 26.803.41515
Subscription: Plus

Codex CLI works correctly and reports:
"Logged in using ChatGPT"

However, Codex in the ChatGPT Windows desktop app shows:
"You don't have access to Codex yet."

I have already tried resetting/reinstalling the app and clearing local application data, but the issue persists.

Resolved.

The issue was caused by an authentication/session problem, not by the installation.

I signed out from ChatGPT in the browser and signed in again using the same email account.
After re-authentication, the ChatGPT Desktop app correctly recognized my Plus subscription and Codex became available.

Before this:

  • Codex CLI worked correctly in PowerShell.
  • Desktop Codex showed "You don't have access to Codex yet".
  • Reinstalling/resetting the app did not help.

After signing in again, Codex Desktop works normally.

I'm pretty sure that manually logging out of all Codex logins in the browser and then logging back in through the Codex app on the day the problem occurred didn't solve it. But today, when I tried again, it resolved my Codex issue.

My steps today:

  1. Log out of my web account
  2. Log in to my web account
  3. Manually log out of all logins containing "Codex" on the webpage
  4. Log out of Codex
  5. Log in to Codex
