Feature Request: Improve Codex project sidebar for users managing many projects
Problem
The current Codex project sidebar becomes difficult to navigate when managing multiple projects.
For developers using AI coding agents, it is common to work on many repositories and products simultaneously. However, the current project list order does not appear predictable (for example, it is unclear whether projects are sorted by name, creation time, or recent activity).
When the number of projects grows, quickly finding the currently active project becomes inefficient.
Proposed Solution
I suggest adding more flexible project organization features:
1. Add project sorting options
Allow users to choose how projects are displayed:
- Recently active (recommended default)
- Recently modified
- Recently created
- Alphabetical
- Manual ordering
2. Add Favorites / Pin projects
Allow users to pin frequently used projects to the top.

Additional context:
I am using Codex Desktop to manage multiple AI-assisted projects simultaneously.
Currently I have 20+ active projects in my sidebar. As AI coding workflows scale, developers are increasingly working on many parallel repositories instead of a few long-running projects.
A "Recently Active" sorting mode or customizable workspace organization would significantly improve daily workflow efficiency.
