Which model were you using?

What platform is your computer?

Darwin 24.5.0 arm64 arm

What steps can reproduce the bug?

When resizing terminal, this happens:

What is the expected behavior?

I imagine that I could resize terminal without the "staircasing" effect in the prompt area?

What do you see instead?

Cascading "send message" input field rendering on resizing.

I hope this is helpful, this is my first time submitting an issue...

Just want to say thank you for all of the hard work to make Codex CLI, it is truly liberating for an artist like me.

Will accept a PR for a fix, likely just need to refresh when the terminal is resized.

Hello,

I tried for about 8 hours to figure out a fix, but am still unsuccessful. Resizing UI for terminal gets slippery fast, and Ink is waaaay out of my skillset. Was super fun to give it a shot and I learned a ton.

From what I found, there are a few known issues with reprinting without artifacts in Ink. (I have noticed a similar issue with a few other terminal apps that I've used, specifically in training models on my laptop.)

The app "needs a reason to re-express itself at the new size". The artifacts are the reprints of the UI at every "flicker" of the resizing window. I tried hooks and a couple other things, but needed to put up the white flag...would have been so cool to help.

I am a musician, so had some off time off stage while performing this weekend to try and use codex cli to solve "it's own ui expression" along with o3 connected to my terminals.

So close...yet, so very far.

I can reproduce the issue when maximizing/restoring the terminal window:
