Summary
Remote Voice from the ChatGPT mobile app hangs indefinitely on Connecting... when connecting to a paired macOS desktop host.
The problem reproduces on both an iPhone and an iPad. Normal Remote text control works from both devices, and Voice Mode started directly in the macOS desktop app works. Only the mobile Remote Voice handoff fails.
Steps to reproduce
- Pair an iOS device with a Mac through ChatGPT Remote.
- Confirm that Remote text control works.
- Select the Mac in the mobile app.
- Start Voice Mode.
Actual behavior
The mobile app remains indefinitely on Connecting.... No voice conversation starts and no error is shown.
Expected behavior
Remote Voice should connect to the paired desktop host and start a voice conversation.
Troubleshooting already attempted
- Reproduced on two independently paired mobile devices (iPhone and iPad).
- Revoked access and paired the phone again.
- Restarted the applications.
- Confirmed that Remote text continues to work.
- Confirmed that local desktop Voice works.
- Confirmed that the desktop and mobile applications are current.
I did not find an existing issue with this exact combination: Remote text works and local desktop Voice works, but Remote Voice hangs from multiple paired iOS/iPadOS devices.
