July 30 ChatGPT 5.6 bug

What happened?

I was using the Codex VS Code extension with GPT-5.6 Sol Ultra to work on a mathematical LaTeX project.

After Codex had been reasoning for several minutes, VS Code became unresponsive. I quit and reopened VS Code. After reopening it:

• My glaplace.tex file is deleted.
• The request failed with usage_limit_exceeded.
• My remaining usage unexpectedly drop from 70% to 0% in miliseconds.
• My 100$ student credits suddenly dropped to 49$

The VS Code Codex Output log shows that the remote context-compaction stream disconnected. At approximately the same time, filesystem directory reads failed with No such file or directory.
