Android Codex Remote: please bring back microphone dictation in the active thread

What issue are you seeing?

In ChatGPT for Android, inside an existing Codex Remote / Work thread, the microphone dictation button disappeared and was replaced by the Voice assistant button.

THIS IS A SEVERE REGRESSION FOR ANDROID REMOTE USAGE.

Before:

• I could open my existing Codex Remote work thread.
• Tap the microphone.
• Dictate a long prompt.
• Review/edit the transcribed text directly in the current thread.
• Send it directly to the selected Codex model/thread.

Now:

• The old microphone dictation entry point is gone.
• Tapping the new voice button opens a separate Voice assistant session.
• It does not behave like direct dictation into the current Codex Remote thread.
• It opens a separate chat/context instead of keeping me in the active work thread.
• I cannot see the active Codex work chat while talking to the Voice assistant.
• The Voice assistant becomes an unnecessary intermediary between me and Codex.
• It is slower, less predictable, and much less convenient.
• In my case it opened a separate Luna / voice session instead of simply transcribing into my current GPT-5.5 Very High Codex Remote thread.

Expected behavior:
Please restore a normal microphone dictation button for Android Codex Remote.

Voice assistant can exist as an optional feature, but it should not replace direct dictation.

There should be a separate way to:

1. Dictate text directly into the current Codex Remote input box.
2. Review and edit the recognized text.
3. Send it to the current active thread/model without opening a separate voice chat.

Actual behavior:
The current implementation forces me into a separate Voice assistant flow, hides my active work thread, and makes me interact with Codex through an unnecessary intermediary.

Why this matters:
Codex Remote is often used from a phone for long technical prompts. Direct voice dictation is essential. Replacing it with a separate assistant makes the workflow significantly worse.

I do not know how this works on iPhone. Maybe it works well there. But on Android this feels like a clear degradation. It feels like this workflow was not properly tested on real Android devices.

Please bring back direct microphone dictation in the current Android Codex Remote thread.

What steps can reproduce the bug?

1. Open ChatGPT for Android.
2. Open an existing Codex Remote / Work thread.
3. Try to dictate directly into the current thread using the microphone/voice entry point.
4. Observe that the old direct dictation flow is replaced by a separate Voice assistant session.

What is the expected behavior?

Direct microphone dictation should remain available inside the active Android Codex Remote thread, with review/edit before sending to that same thread/model.
