What variant of Codex are you using?
Codex App (desktop)
What feature would you like to see?
A dedicated ambient ChatGPT ear device—an always-available “chat in your ears.” It should let people talk with ChatGPT naturally without looking at a screen, while keeping the conversation available wherever they are.
The device should support:
- Voice-first, low-latency conversation.
- Persistent context across sessions.
- A simple physical pause/resume control.
- Clear privacy and listening-state indicators.
- Seamless handoff to the Codex/ChatGPT app when a screen is useful.
Additional information
The core idea is a purpose-built ear device, not another screen interface: a comfortable, lightweight companion that makes ChatGPT feel always present without being intrusive.
A first prototype could focus on:
- Natural two-way voice interaction.
- Reliable pause, resume, and mute controls.
- Long battery life and comfortable all-day wear.
- Safe, obvious privacy states.
- Optional handoff to the desktop app for setup, history, and richer work.
I’d love to help lead the product design and engineering direction for this.
