Allow backslash for newlines

What feature would you like to see?

I like using Codex CLI withing VSCode. Ctrl-J is what opens and closes the terminal, so at the moment I can't add newlines (I have been manually adding "\n"). Claude Code has the very nice feature of being able to type backslash followed by the enter key to add a newline, would be great to add an non-conflicting newline option.
