What variant of Codex are you using?

CLI

What feature would you like to see?

micro is about half the size of vim, and offers full mouse support and all modern text-editing features and key-bindings. Same editing features as this textbox. Very stable, minimal interface. A bit nicer to use than codex query-editor, imho.

Get modern.

Additional information

More than once, i've lost work in codex CLI because i'll accidentally hit some key stroke and everything i just spent 20 minutes typing into the text box get obliterated. It very disruptive and reduces productivity. I admit i'm clumsy. A modern text-editor is more forgiving.

not duplicative of https://github.com/openai/codex/issues/36439 or https://github.com/openai/codex/issues/36591 . They don't request micro text editor.

In case you're thinking "vim is appropriate for CLI version, because if someone is using CLI, that proves they are vim-friendly" -- not in my case. I'm using CLI version because usage is simpler than IDE integration, and because i'm allowing codex to do all coding. I operate as code designer only.
