Summary

GPT-5.6 Sol is absent from the Model menu in the ChatGPT desktop app's Codex interface for an individual ChatGPT Pro account.

Environment

  • ChatGPT desktop app: 26.727.51351
  • macOS
  • Codex local task
  • ChatGPT plan: Pro
  • Local Codex config: model = "gpt-5.6-sol", reasoning effort ultra

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open a local Codex task in the ChatGPT desktop app.
  2. Open the model selector.
  3. Inspect the available GPT-5.6 models.

Actual behavior

The picker lists 5.6 Terra and 5.6 Luna, but not 5.6 Sol. It also shows 5.5 and 5.4 Mini.

Expected behavior

5.6 Sol should be listed and selectable for the same individual Pro account, particularly since the local configuration targets Sol.

Why this seems inconsistent

The current pricing documentation lists the GPT-5.6 family, including Sol, for Plus and says Pro includes Plus:

Ongoing feedback

I use Codex extensively alongside Claude in real development workflows and can provide ongoing, reproducible comparisons and bug reports. I would be interested in a structured feedback/beta arrangement. If OpenAI can provide an unrestricted or suitably high Codex usage allocation or credits for this work, I would be happy to report issues continuously through GitHub and share practical product feedback.

Adding a Windows / ChatGPT Plus data point:

  • Surface: ChatGPT desktop app, Codex local task, on Windows.
  • Account: individual ChatGPT Plus account, signed in with the same account used on the web.
  • Actual behavior: GPT-5.6 Sol is absent from the Codex model picker. The visible choices are 5.6 Terra, 5.6 Luna, 5.5, and 5.4 Mini.
  • The user reports that the relevant usage allowance has already reset, but Sol still does not return to the picker.
  • For the same account, ChatGPT on the web can still use GPT-5.6 Sol.

Expected behavior: Plus users should see and be able to select Sol in Codex, or the client should show a clear model-specific entitlement/limit status and reset time.
