What version of the Codex App are you using (From “About Codex” dialog)?

26.730.61309 (build 6223)

What subscription do you have?

ChatGPT account (exact plan does not appear relevant to this client-side UI issue)

What platform is your computer?

Darwin 25.5.0 arm64 arm
macOS 26.5.2 (Build 25F84)

What issue are you seeing?

When Activity view is enabled, a newly created conversation does not appear in the left Activity sidebar.

The new conversation opens in the main pane and can be used, but there is no corresponding item in the Activity list. As a result, the conversation cannot be found or navigated back to from the left sidebar while using Activity view.

What steps can reproduce the bug?

  1. Open the Codex App.
  2. Click the bell icon to enable Activity view.
  3. Create a new conversation while Activity view is active.
  4. Start using the new conversation.
  5. Check the left Activity sidebar.
  6. The newly created conversation is not listed.

What is the expected behavior?

A newly created conversation should appear promptly in the Activity sidebar once it has been created or receives activity, so it remains discoverable and can be selected again.

Additional information

I searched existing issues before filing and did not find an exact duplicate.

Related but distinct reports:

  • #36860: Activity view does not highlight the currently open conversation. That issue concerns selected-state styling; this issue concerns the conversation being absent from the list entirely.
  • #36300: Activity view keeps stale ordering after chats receive new activity. That issue concerns re-ranking existing chats; this issue concerns a newly created chat not appearing at all.

This is a huge letdown of this feature. It basically has to be manually refreshed to be usable.
