Side agents often become an important part of the conversation. We use them to explore ideas, analyze specific topics, and reach conclusions that are directly relevant to the main thread.

However, that context currently remains isolated. Users must manually copy information, summarize discussions, and relay requests back to the main agent. This interrupts the workflow, creates unnecessary friction, and increases the risk of losing important context along the way.

Users should be able to ask a side agent to communicate directly with the thread’s main agent, for example, to share findings, provide a summary, suggest an action, or hand the conversation back with the relevant context attached.

This would make side agents feel like truly collaborative participants rather than disconnected conversations. It would create a faster, more natural, and more dynamic experience while significantly improving continuity across the thread.

Additional information

This behavior could also be configurable. Users could choose whether side agents:

  • Communicate only after an explicit request.
  • Decide when communication is useful based on the conversation’s context.
  • Ask for confirmation before sharing information with the main agent.

Clear indicators should show when communication happens and what information is being shared, ensuring that users remain informed and in control.

This would turn side agents into truly collaborative participants rather than isolated conversations. It would reduce repetitive work, preserve context, and create a faster, more natural, and significantly more dynamic experience across the entire thread.
