Feature request: fixed-price Codex power-user tiers above Pro ($300–$500/month)

Please offer one or more fixed-price individual Codex subscription tiers above the current $200 Pro plan.

Suggested pricing options for user research:

• $300/month: approximately 35× Plus usage
• $400/month: approximately 50–60× Plus usage
• $500/month: approximately 75–80× Plus usage
• Keep the current $200 Pro plan and credit top-ups as they are

The exact multipliers are illustrative. The main request is a predictable, fixed-price tier for heavy individual Codex users.

The missing user segment

There is a meaningful difference between paying for an API and paying for a personal coding tool.

I use API billing for workloads such as:

• SaaS ReAct agents
• Independent agent harnesses
• Production MCP integrations
• Other company-operated automated workflows

Those are business infrastructure costs and should be paid by a company.

Codex, however, is a personal developer productivity tool, more comparable to an IDE subscription. I am comfortable paying a relatively high fixed monthly fee for it, but I do not want an unpredictable personal credit meter running while I code.

For users like me, the conversion rate from a higher subscription to purchased credits is effectively zero.

Current problem

The current $200 Pro tier is not sufficient for sustained, heavy Codex use.

I would personally pay an additional $200 per month for approximately 50–60× Plus usage. I could also consider a $500 tier if it provided a meaningfully larger fixed quota.

However, I would not personally purchase the same amount as usage credits. Credit-based usage belongs in my company or API budget, not my personal developer-tool budget.

These may produce the same revenue on paper:

• $200 Pro + $200 credits
• $400 fixed-price subscription

But they are not interchangeable products from the user's perspective.

This is not a request for unlimited usage

A higher fixed-price tier could retain reasonable capacity controls:

• Five-hour and weekly usage windows
• Explicit concurrency limits
• Fair-use protections
• Lower queue priority during exceptional peak demand
• Optional, rather than automatic, transition to purchased credits
• Clear and stable quota visibility

The proposal is for a much larger predictable quota, not unlimited compute.

Why this could benefit OpenAI

A higher fixed-price tier would capture revenue from users who:

• Exhaust the current Pro allowance
• Are willing to pay $300–$500 per month
• Will not purchase personal usage credits
• Currently switch between providers, wait for resets, or use multiple accounts
• Prefer a predictable software subscription over metered cloud billing

Even if purchased credits have higher unit margins, that does not help when a segment's credit conversion rate is close to zero.

A fixed-price power-user tier would create additional recurring revenue without replacing API billing for production workloads.
