ChatGPT Work: two Sol Max Fast tasks became stuck, never completed, but exhausted weekly Plus quota
What issue are you seeing?
Title:
ChatGPT Work: 2 stuck Sol Max Fast tasks exhausted my weekly Plus quota
I started using ChatGPT Work today on Plus, on Android, with GPT-5.6 Sol Max Fast.
I launched 3 research tasks:
- The first completed normally after ~37 minutes.
- The next 2 were running concurrently, became extremely slow/glitchy and then appeared stuck.
- Both remained stuck until I deleted them roughly an hour after launch.
- Neither ever completed or produced a final response.
While those 2 tasks were stuck, Work reported that I had exhausted my entire weekly allowance and would have to wait 6 days for it to reset. Deleting the stuck tasks did not restore any usage.
Could you please clarify/investigate:
- Is it expected for only 2–3 Sol Max Fast research tasks of roughly this duration to exhaust the entire weekly ChatGPT Plus Work allowance?
- Did the 2 stuck tasks continue consuming/counting against my quota despite never completing?
- Can reaching the weekly quota while existing tasks are still running cause those tasks to become stuck or stop receiving compute?
- Can running 2 Sol Max Fast Work tasks concurrently cause throttling or task failure?
If this level of usage is expected, the UI really needs to show the weekly allowance and approximate usage per task beforehand. At present there was no way for me to know that a few research tasks could lock me out of Work for almost a full week.

What steps can reproduce the bug?
- On a ChatGPT Plus account, open ChatGPT Work in the Android app.
- Select GPT-5.6 Sol Max Fast.
- Start a long research task.
- Start two additional long research tasks concurrently.
- In my case, the first task completed after ~37 minutes, while the other two became extremely slow/glitchy and then appeared stuck.
- Leave the two stuck tasks open. Both remained stuck until I deleted them roughly an hour after launch and neither ever completed or produced a final response.
- During this time, Work displayed: “You’re out of Work usage for now. Upgrade to keep using Work now, or wait for your usage to reset in 6 days.”
- Delete the two stuck tasks.
- The weekly Work allowance remains exhausted.
No code snippet is applicable; this occurred entirely within ChatGPT Work.
What is the expected behavior?
I would expect:
- Work tasks that are already running to either continue normally to completion or fail clearly with an error, rather than remain indefinitely stuck.
- If a task fails or becomes permanently stuck without completing, its effect on the weekly usage allowance should be handled appropriately rather than silently consuming the remaining quota.
- Running multiple supported Work tasks concurrently should not cause them to become stuck without explanation.
- If exhausting the entire weekly Plus Work allowance after only 2–3 Sol Max Fast research tasks is expected behavior, the product should clearly show the weekly allowance and approximate usage per task so users can predict this before starting expensive tasks.
- The UI should clearly explain what happens to already-running tasks when the weekly Work quota is reached.
Additional information
The weekly quota was exhausted while the two affected tasks were still shown as running, which is why I am unsure whether quota exhaustion itself caused or contributed to them becoming stuck.
This was my first day using ChatGPT Work. Before these three research attempts, I had essentially no prior Work usage that week.
I can provide screenshots and more precise timestamps if needed. If possible, please check the backend execution and usage logs for the affected tasks to determine whether they were still receiving compute after becoming stuck and how much weekly allowance each task consumed.
