Environment
- macOS: 11.7
- VS Code: 1.101.2
- Last working Codex extension: 26.727.40816
- First broken Codex extension: 26.803.41515 (latest at the moment)
- Architecture: Intel / Apple Silicon
Observed behavior
After updating the Codex extension, the sidebar shows:
“Codex could not start”
“The extension couldn't load its resources.”
Expected behavior
The extension should load normally, or the Marketplace should prevent
installation and clearly state the minimum supported VS Code/macOS version.
Regression confirmation
Downgrading from 26.803.41515 to 26.727.40816 immediately fixes the issue without changing VS Code, macOS, authentication, or project settings.
Additional information
The chat within the IDE (VSCode) got an error on loading and states "Codex
What steps can reproduce the bug?
Re install latest version and restart the plugin get's the extension broken
