New macOS app – Projects are missing important features from the web version

I use ChatGPT Projects extensively, and I’ve noticed that the new macOS desktop app does not provide the same Project functionality as ChatGPT on the web.

On the web, my Projects give me access to Chats, Sources, and the full Project settings. I can view and manage the files and knowledge associated with a Project, configure the Project, and then use that persistent context across my conversations.

In the new macOS app:

The Sources section is not available in the Project interface.
Project settings are different and do not provide the same options as the web version.
The overall Project interface and workflow are significantly different from the web experience.

For my workflow, Sources and Project settings are fundamental parts of Projects, not optional features.

I already use VS Code as my development environment, so the new Work/repository functionality does not replace what I need from the ChatGPT desktop app. What I need is access to the same persistent Project knowledge and management tools that I have on the web.

My workflow is essentially:

VS Code → development and coding
ChatGPT Projects → Sources, project knowledge, instructions, research and conversations

Because the desktop app currently lacks the full Sources and Project-management experience, I have little reason to use it instead of ChatGPT in my browser.

I would strongly recommend bringing full Project feature parity to the macOS app, particularly:

Project → Chats
Project → Sources
Project → full Project settings

Ideally, opening the same Project on the web and in the desktop app should provide the same core Project functionality and access to the same project resources.
