Linux preview: collapsed sidebar opens on hover when leaving the window and stays open (covers content)
What version of the Codex App are you using (From “About Codex” dialog)?
26.803.81509
What subscription do you have?
Plus
What platform is your computer?
Linux 7.0.0-28-generic x86_64 x86_64
What issue are you seeing?
I use Codex with the left sidebar normally collapsed (Ctrl+B).
When I move the mouse from Codex into another app (crossing the left edge of the Codex window), the collapsed sidebar opens on hover — expected. But after the cursor leaves the Codex window, the sidebar stays open and covers part of the answer while I’m working in the other window.
If I hover the sidebar edge and then move the cursor back toward the center of the Codex window, the sidebar retracts correctly. The failure mode appears specific to hover-open followed by the pointer leaving the app (or focus changing).
The same stuck-open behavior also happens when I Alt+Tab away without moving the cursor after the sidebar has been hover-revealed.
What steps can reproduce the bug?
- Open Codex Desktop (Linux preview).
- Collapse the left sidebar with Ctrl+B.
- Focus Codex, then move the mouse left across the Codex left edge into another app or empty desktop.
- Observe: the sidebar opens on hover (expected).
- Leave the cursor outside the Codex window (or, after hover-reveal, Alt+Tab away without moving the mouse).
- Observe: the sidebar remains open and covers part of the conversation while Codex is unfocused.
Control case:
- Hover the left edge so the sidebar opens.
- Move the cursor back into the center of the Codex window without leaving the app.
- Observe: the sidebar retracts as expected.
What is the expected behavior?
- A collapsed sidebar should not stay expanded after the pointer leaves the window or focus moves to another app.
- Hover-to-reveal should not leave the sidebar stuck open while Codex is unfocused / in the background.

Not a duplicate of #37714.
#37714 is about the sidebar opening on hover while the window is unfocused.
This issue is about a different failure: after a normal hover-reveal, the sidebar stays open when the pointer leaves the window or focus moves away (including Alt+Tab without moving the mouse). Hover-open itself is expected here; the stuck-open state is the bug.
you are wrong, and this is false.
Closing as I can no longer reproduce this on the same Linux machine after version 26.810.41047.
Specifically: with Codex maximized/fullscreen, the hover-revealed sidebar now closes correctly when moving the cursor onto another display. When windowed or tiled, the sidebar’s left-edge hover-activation threshold—reduced in version 26.810.41047 from 12 CSS pixels to 4—no longer catches the pointer before the native left-edge resize target does, so the resize cursor appears instead of the sidebar opening on hover.
