Issue
On Codex Desktop for Windows, enabling the task-level Full access permission mode causes persistent severe UI and mouse/input lag, even in a new empty task.
Turning Full access off immediately restores responsiveness. This A/B result is repeatable on the same running installation.
Reproduction
- Start Codex Desktop on Windows.
- Open a new empty local task.
- Enable Full access below the composer.
- Move the mouse across the app and interact with controls.
- Observe severe persistent input/UI lag.
- Turn Full access off.
- Responsiveness returns immediately.
Expected behavior
Changing the task permission mode should not degrade UI or mouse responsiveness.
Additional observation
During diagnosis, the extra load appeared concentrated in the Electron main process rather than the renderer or GPU.
No raw logs, session transcripts, account details, hardware identifiers, or private file information are included in this report.

The new controlled variable from this report has been added to #38554 before closing: the task-level Full access setting repeatably toggles the symptom—enabled causes the lag even in a new empty task, while disabling it immediately restores responsiveness without restarting Codex.
