[Windows][Sites] Built-in browser keeps local Site preview blocked and site permissions never load
What version of the Codex App are you using (From “About Codex” dialog)?
26.810.52044
What subscription do you have?
ChatGPT Plus
What platform is your computer?
Microsoft Windows 11 Home Single Language 10.0.26200 64 bits
What issue are you seeing?
I am using ChatGPT Sites in the ChatGPT desktop app for Windows.
I edited an existing Site called “Control de Mantenciones Doña Consuelo”. The Site changes are generated successfully, pass technical validation, and ChatGPT confirms that the local preview is active.
However, the built-in browser permanently blocks access to the local Site preview.
The problem started after I accidentally denied the browser permission for the local preview. That denial appears to remain saved and I cannot reset it.
ChatGPT instructs me to go to Settings → Browser → Website permissions → Blocked websites and remove the blocked preview host. However, in my current desktop app that list does not load. When I search Settings for “sites”, the relevant entries remain indefinitely on “Loading websites...”.
Steps to reproduce:
Open the ChatGPT desktop app for Windows.
Open an existing ChatGPT Site and edit it.
Generate a local preview.
Deny the browser permission for the local preview.
Try to open the same preview again.
The preview remains active, but the built-in browser reports that access is blocked.
Go to Settings → Browser and try to manage the blocked website.
The website permission entries remain stuck on “Loading websites...” and the blocked preview cannot be removed.
Restarting the app does not resolve the problem.
Expected result:
The blocked local preview should be visible in Browser settings so the permission can be reset, or ChatGPT should ask for permission again.
Actual result:
The permission remains blocked and the local Site preview cannot be opened.
The existing production Site continues to work normally. I have not published the new version because I cannot visually review it first.
What steps can reproduce the bug?
Feedback ID: no-active-thread-01a007a6-3015-7102-ab99-188ebd8f0c50
What is the expected behavior?
The blocked local Site preview host should be visible in the desktop app Browser settings so I can remove the block and grant access again.
Alternatively, ChatGPT should prompt me again for permission when attempting to open the local Site preview.
After permission is restored, the built-in browser should be able to open and display the active local ChatGPT Sites preview so I can visually review the changes before publishing them.
Additional information
The issue is reproducible after restarting the ChatGPT desktop app.
ChatGPT confirms that the local Site preview is active and that the Site changes passed technical validation, but the preview cannot be displayed because access remains blocked.
The built-in browser itself works normally for public websites.
In Settings → Browser, searching for website/site permissions results in entries that remain indefinitely on “Loading websites...”, so I cannot locate or remove the blocked local preview host.
The existing production Site remains available and works normally. I have intentionally not published the edited version because I cannot review the local preview first.
