Support Codex Remote control from desktop and Linux apps

Feature request

Please add Codex Remote host selection and remote task control to the ChatGPT/Codex desktop app, including Linux.

Use case

I use a Steam Deck as a portable development device and want it to act as a control plane for Codex running on another computer. Today, the documented Remote experience is centered on mobile, which leaves desktop-class portable Linux devices without a native way to control a connected Codex host.

Desired capabilities

  • Select a connected host and workspace from the desktop/Linux app
  • Start and steer remote tasks
  • Respond to approval requests
  • Review diffs and task results
  • Manage multiple connected machines
  • Preserve the security and host-boundary model of the existing Remote experience

Why this matters

A native desktop/Linux Remote client would be more reliable and accessible than running an emulated mobile app or a full remote-desktop session. It would also make devices such as the Steam Deck useful portable Codex control consoles without requiring the code to execute locally.
