[Windows] Expand the native image viewer with drawing and region-selection tools
Feature request
The native image viewer in the Windows Codex desktop app is too limited. After opening an image, the toolbar currently offers only Add comment and Remove.
Please improve the image-viewer canvas and visual-review workflow with:
- Freehand pen/marker drawing
- Rectangle selection for an exact region
- Arrows, highlights, and optional text labels
- Undo/redo and clear-all controls
- A clear, compact canvas toolbar with accessible icons and keyboard shortcuts
- Independent image zoom/pan that works correctly with Windows display scaling and app zoom
- An option to attach the annotated image and/or the selected region to the active conversation, preserving normalized coordinates when possible
The annotations should be non-destructive overlays and should be converted into precise visual context for the conversation, just as the current comment and remove actions are.
Expected behavior
A user should be able to open an attached image, mark an area with a pen or rectangle, undo or clear the marks, and send the annotated result directly to the conversation. This would make visual feedback much more precise and improve the canvas UI design for Windows users.
Environment
- Codex Desktop: 26.818.2872.0
- Platform: Windows desktop
