What version of the Codex App are you using (From “About Codex” dialog)?

26.820.60940

What subscription do you have?

Pro

What platform is your computer?

Darwin 25.5.0 arm64 arm

What issue are you seeing?

My usual workflow is to start sessions on my home Mac, work on them while I commute, then transfer them to my MacBook when I'm in the office. Before leaving the office I'd do the same thing in reverse (if I have any unfinished threads).

Today when I tried to hand-off to my MacBook, I got the message "Paginated chats cannot be continued on another host yet". But as a user I don't know what a "paginated chat" even is. Is there a way to see this beforehand? When does a chat become paginated so it doesn't support my workflow anymore?

What steps can reproduce the bug?

I don't know what makes a chat paginated. It doesn't happen to all chats. What I did with the chat this happened in:

  1. Start a chat on one computer
  2. Continue that chat on mobile
  3. Continue that chat on a second computer
  4. Try to transfer that chat to the second computer

What is the expected behavior?

The chat should transfer to the second computer.

Additional information

I hope I'm correct to file an issue here, I did so because I can't find anything on this error. At the very least the app or documentation should explain what a paginated chat is and how I can prevent a chat from becoming paginated (if that's possible) so I can continue to work on it between multiple devices.
