What steps can reproduce the bug?
I have codex cli and vs code installed. I'm not using vs code one.
Yesterday I did some stuff, nothing big.
There was no notice about the account being limited.
Today I start it up and enter a prompt and I hit the weekly limit immediately.
I theorize that starting vs code with codex extension installed uses tokens on each start, or it's one big coincidence. Or you lowered the limits.

The current request limits are quite low, and codex-cli is consuming a high number of requests and tokens unintentionally due to a bug. Hopefully this will be resolved in version 0.40.0.
At the moment, both codex-cli and codex-gpt5 feel immature. I expect significant improvements starting with version 0.50, where the tools should become more stable and practical.
For this reason, I believe OpenAI should consider making codex-cli limitless while it remains in this very early alpha stage.

Used Codex cli for less than 5 minutes today before hitting the same limit (I don't have any VSCode plugin installed).
Does the limits reset on a given day of the week, or is it a rolling 7 days limit?
I am getting same issue and i am pro account!!! I did not used it that much yesterday as i also have claude code. It needs to be fixed as this limit is a complete joke!!!!

Yeah same here, these usage limits in the Codex CLI are super annoying, feels like they trigger even when I am barely using it.
We're recently introduced some changes that help your extend your available usage.
Apparently this bug cames back, because I was sitting on 65% usage remaining, and out of nowhere when I started my browser today, it was 0%
