resizing window breaks new input field background styling

What steps can reproduce the bug?

input anything with at least a handful of words.
resize the window so the line gets wrapped.
background styling broken.

i'll be the first to say this is a minor issue at best. otoh, you don't have to add background styling. if you _are_ choosing to do it, do it well.
