Codex unable to edit files

What steps can reproduce the bug?

1. Connect to remote ssh instance using vscode
2. Install codex
3. Ask to to do anything that requires it to write code

What is the expected behavior?

Codex writes the code to a file (asks for permission if needed)

What do you see instead?

Codex doesn't write any data, then instead asks to run some command (sometimes not even compatible on the system) to write the data to the file.
