Add timestamp to each message in Codex VsCode Extension

Open 💬 7 comments Opened Oct 13, 2025 by borjaalonsoarbolus

Morning everyone,

It would be great to have a timestamp displayed on each message in the chat. That way, we could see roughly how long each request took(the difference from which it was done until the answer was provided, by seeing it on screen).

This could be on any IDE or even terminal.Just flagging VsCode in my case.

bumping this, noticing there are no timestamps (barely any metadata, really) when pulling in messages via the app-server. presumably that's why they're not here either.

+1 when it runs command it would be incredibly helpful to know when it happened so when i get back to the app after 2 hours of calls or two days later i know what happened when.

I don't know if this was just added, but I am seeing these as of today, though when I scroll back through a chat, looking in the same place, there is no timestamp. Bug or newly implemented feature (so that previous data doesn't exist)?
