Jobs stuck for hours; Stop often ineffective and blocks further prompts

**Summary**  
Sometimes jobs get **stuck for hours** and **Stop** doesn't work. When one tab is stuck, it can **block** further prompting.

**Expected**  
Stop should reliably cancel stuck jobs; other tabs shouldn't be blocked by one hung job.
