Bug: Environment setup starts on default branch and resets with 'environment changed' warning

Summary
When working on a non-default branch, the Environment setup opens on the default branch, and after a few seconds shows "This environment changed while you were editing. Refresh and try again." which prevents saving edits.

Expected
Setup should respect the current working branch and allow saving without spurious resets.
