What version of the VS Code extension are you using?

What subscription do you have?

What platform is your computer?

Win 11 10.0.26200.0 ARM64 + WSL Fedora 42

What issue are you seeing?

It would be great to have the ability to set a custom title for a Codex chat — for example, a short summary (~100 characters) instead of displaying the first message. This would make it much easier to navigate between multiple conversations.

What steps can reproduce the bug?

Start a new conversation, it will use the first user's message as title of the chat in the chat list.

What is the expected behavior?

Same as in Web-based ChatGPT

This ticket is for vscode extension -- not codex CLI.

I too want to be able to name the chats in vscode, instead of relying on auto-generated titles for the chats!
