What subscription do you have?

Every time I start Codex CLI it reports a new version is available. Running codex update completes (or says already up to date), but after restarting the terminal or running Codex again, the update prompt still appears

Every time I start Codex CLI it reports a new version is available. Running codex update completes (or says already up to date), but after restarting the terminal or running Codex again, the update prompt still appears.

What steps can reproduce the bug?

  • Steps to reproduce:
  1. Run codex
  2. Run codex update as prompted
  3. Restart the terminal or run codex again
  4. See the same update prompt

What is the expected behavior?

After a successful update, no further update prompt appears and codex --version matches the latest version indicated by the prompt.
