Extension is taking more than a minute to load recently

What issue are you seeing?
The extension is taking a considerable amount of time to initialise. This is not an issue I have seen in the past versions but this version of the extension has surfaced it again (I've also seen it a few months back).
What steps can reproduce the bug?
Tap on the extension. Loading spinner goes for over 1 minute before it fully loads.
What is the expected behavior?
In the past it has loaded almost instantaneously when tapping the icon in VS Code

Can you provide more details about your configuration? Do you have any non-default configuration options configured in
.codex/config.toml? For example, do you have any MCP servers configured?all defaults. no mcps
OK, thanks for confirming. And when you say "takes a long time to load", what do you see? Is it just a "spinner" in the middle of the panel?
correct. and even on follow up messages sometimes after it loaded and completed a task I get a long spinner on the submit button
having the exact same problem, seemed to have started a couple of days ago.
We just released new versions 0.5.41 (pre-release) and 0.4.40 (official production release) - please give that a try and see if they address the issue. I will also dig into it on our end and see if anything jumps out.
just updated to 0.5.41(pre-release) but still seeing the same behavior.

May also fail to communicate properly once a message is sent. Problems started today. when it works, it for a few minutes only, then back to failing to submit message (in chat window).
Also fails, using test profile (empty) and test extensions (empty), runnning 0.5.41
on that note I have none of these issues on Ubuntu Linux 24.04 inside VSCode. same pre-release version. but on my macbook even a complete reinstall of vs code and the extension didn't solve it
