What feature would you like to see?

Please allow running the mcp-server command as a streaming HTTP server on localhost. Then we can access it from sandboxed macOS apps, which are not allowed to invoke CLI commands or run user-installed binaries outside its sandbox.

Streamable http mcp servers should be working, including if the url is localhost. Can you clarify what isn't working?

I want Codex's MCP server (mcp-server) to accept input via HTTP. Sorry for unclear language

At the moment, Codex can only be used as a stdio mcp server but you can build a wrapper around it that exposes it via http if you would like.

@gpeal thanks for the response

To be clear on use case:

Sandboxed macOS apps, in the App Store, cannot invoke the codex binary, and I believe cannot ship a wrapper to wrap it via HTTP. But if codex were to give this to users out of the box, Mac apps in the App Store would be able to integrate with codex.

Maybe there's a better way to do this. But as I understand it, requiring a CLI wrapper means that the solution can't be shipped in the App Store. It would be great for the codex ecosystem if App Store apps could interface with it. Thanks
