Usage seems to have been reduced or there is another bug around counting usage
What version of Codex is running?
0.58.0
What subscription do you have?
PRO
Which model were you using?
gpt-5.1-codex-high
What platform is your computer?
macOS
What issue are you seeing?
As a Pro subscriber, firstly let me say I've had zero complaints with Codex until now. I have never hit any daily or weekly limits with Codex CLI ever. But something has changed lately with Codex and it's not how I am using the CLI.
My default model is gpt-5-codex high always and I never run into usage issues or limits. Since the launch of gpt-5.1-codex high, something has happened. It appears this model uses significantly more tokens compared to gpt-5-codex did. My weekly usage just reset and somehow in a day I've already used 11% of my weekly limit in just a few short hours.
I know this all depends on context and whatnot, but what I am using Codex CLI for is on the same project I've been using it on for a while now. The tasks I've used it for in the last day or so have been tiny in comparison to other big ticket items previously. And somehow I've blown through 11% in a single day, which has never happened before.
Is this a bug, have the limits been reduced and not communicated?
What steps can reproduce the bug?
It's hard to reproduce because you can't use the same project I'm working on, but:
- Have a Pro subscription
- Use Codex CLI like you normally would
- Notice the weekly usage seems to accumulate a lot faster than it did previously
What is the expected behavior?
Usage has never accumulated this fast up until now. I would expect if this is a new policy that the changes be communicated to paying customers. If this is a bug, please look into this as a priority because it's making me reconsider whether I want to be paying for a pro subscription if the limits have been reduced (from what I can see) by about 4x what they previously were.
