Real-Time Steering During Codex Runs (Similar to Claude Code)

What feature would you like to see?

Codex is known to be slightly slower ⚙️ but delivers better, more reliable outcomes ✅. Because of this, there’s a great opportunity to make Codex even more powerful: let the user steer it in real time while it works 🕹️.

What’s Missing

Right now, once a Codex run starts, the user can’t send clarifications or adjustments until it finishes ⛔.
If Codex misunderstood something or the direction needs to change, the only option is to stop and restart — losing progress and breaking flow.

Requested Feature

Add support for real-time message injection into an active Codex run (similar to Claude’s live-steering) 🔄.
This would let Codex immediately incorporate new instructions while continuing the same task.

Why This Matters
• Codex’s slower-but-better generation makes live steering extremely valuable 💡
• Avoids unnecessary run restarts 🔁
• Lets users redirect or refine instructions mid-process ✏️
