If I understand your feature request correctly, I think it's a duplicate of https://github.com/openai/codex/issues/2880 — or it largely overlaps. If you agree, please upvote that one and close this.
One is in the VS Code extension, and that issue is in the CLI. Although they serve the same purpose, there are differences in technical details: in VS Code, there is a browser underneath, while in the CLI, it is colored in the shell.
I will go vote for #2880. Providing this feature in either scenario would be great.
