Dead Codex Ext. Nothing works.
Dead load, hangs, when it does finally load the chat, create new, start again. After 2-3 prompts, hangs, lags, dead. No special coding in the configs. Just base. Still the same.
What steps can reproduce the bug?
Every PC on my network and neighbors network. My account on VS code, always lags and nothing happens.
What is the expected behavior?
Load to open ai, login, chat functions open. Doesn't do anything.

Hey Open AI - Your Auth.Jsons are having the issues. When the new version releases, it does something weird with the Json file and it's not able to read it from the vscode ext files. It just loops constantly. I added a new - if auth.json load error/extends 60 seconds. Stop load and commit error. Deleted the Json, forced the load a new one.
I don't know if it's the Json but it is not recognizing the keys in that file to load the open ai account to the users VS code ext. Everyone (about 4,000+ in my community) seems to have had the issues when Max came out, something new renders wrong keys or loops without pushing through the API.
Can you provide more details about your configuration? What platform are you using? Windows? With or without WSL?
You mentioned that it "just loads". What are you seeing? Is there a spinner, or is the extension panel just black?
You mentioned that you think this might be related to the
auth.jsonfile. What symptoms are you seeing that lead you to think that's related? You said that you deleted theauth.jsonfile. Did that allow you to get past the hang?If you open the Output panel in VS Code and select "Codex", you should see the extension's log output. Do you see any log output that might help us diagnose this problem?
Windows 10, windows 11. With and without WSL. Tried both, workstation and other PC's. I would get black screen with no load spinner. (2-3 hours at a time), Then load spinner, sat for 12 hours once, nothing loaded.
'auth.json' was pushing key to openai for checks. Didn't return anything through the extension on VS code. After I jumped into it today, I went back on a few discord communities. Had them all delete the auth and reinstall. Worked for everyone.

Even after nuking all the file types. The last thing I deleted was the 'auth.json'.
I reuploaded all the extensions, the app data, previous data for codex etc. Everything was fine. The reset for the keys in the json is what fixed all of the issues.
