Panel becomes grey after a long run time

I am still seeing the panel in vscode turn grey, as in issue #7585

VSCode extension: 0.4.55
codex --version: codex-cli 0.73.0

VSCode is running in WSL: Ubuntu 24.04 under Windows 11 with WSL extension.

What steps can reproduce the bug?

Run a long context in the chat panel, switch chat, it will turn grey once nearing 100% context window usage, or randomly.

What is the expected behavior?
